Isabel is a classical/jazz violinist living in Los Angeles, California. She received her Bachelor’s degree in music from UC Berkeley and graduated from the Los Angeles County High School for the Arts. She was a winner of the 2010 William Grant Still Competition, as well as the Music Teachers’ Association of California (MTAC) Concerto Competition, which resulted in a performance of the Conus Violin Concerto as a soloist with the San Fernando Symphony. As a teacher, Isabel believes in the Suzuki philosophy: all children are capable of learning if they are provided with the right environment and given proper guidance and encouragement. She tailors her teaching to every student’s individual needs, whilst also providing a solid foundation in technique and music theory. She believes that the key to a life-long relationship with music is a happy connection to the act of practicing, and has found that assigning weekly listening projects to her students has helped keep them excited and inspired. Isabel is currently in the process of becoming a Suzuki-certified teacher, and is also a member of the Music Teacher’s National Association (MTNA).
